Your organization’s members share one SMS wallet. Top-ups and outgoing messages record who initiated them. Other organizations’ balances cannot be spent from your workspace.

Add credit automatically

1

Open funding

In Communications, choose Top up SMS credit.
2

Enter amount and phone

Enter at least UGX 5,000 and the Ugandan mobile-money number to debit. The maximum offered amount is UGX 10,000,000.
3

Approve on the phone

Choose Request Mobile Money Prompt. UGSMS initiates the phone approval flow. Enter your mobile-money PIN on the phone prompt, never in Property Assistant.
4

Wait for confirmation

The top-up remains pending until UGSMS confirms payment. Check SMS top-ups for its provider reference and status. Available credit increases only after successful confirmation.

Read the wallet

  • Available: credit you can use for new SMS.
  • Reserved for sending: credit held for queued or unconfirmed SMS.
  • Total top-ups: successfully confirmed funding.
  • SMS spent: credit settled against confirmed sending.
  • Segments sent: billed live SMS segment usage.
A live broadcast reserves its estimated cost first. Confirmed sending converts that reservation to spending. Definite failures return reserved credit; uncertain outcomes keep it reserved until reconciled. For a 161-character message and two valid phone recipients, the documented formula is two segments per recipient. At UGX 35 per segment, the quote is UGX 140. Your actual configured rate may differ; use the displayed estimate.

When a top-up is pending or unknown

Check whether the phone payment was approved and retain the provider transaction reference. Contact support before starting another request for the same payment. An uncertain initiation is not automatically retried, which avoids issuing duplicate phone prompts.
Sandbox SMS does not spend your wallet and cannot initiate live top-ups. If top-up is unavailable, contact support.
